Destination Wednesdays - #4 Great Sand Dunes, Colorado

~ Destination Wednesdays ~

This week’s *Destination Wednesdays* is one of the most surprising places that we’ve seen here in Colorado.

4/ When you think of Colorado you think of the Rocky Mountains and everything related to them. You may not think of sand dunes. But Colorado has some of the most unique dunes in the US.

The Great Sand Dunes are about an hour and a half from Colorado Springs and two hours from Denver in one of the valleys in the mountains.

The Great Sand Dunes offers tons of activities. You can hike, sand board (like snowboarding on sand), sand sled (some more winter activities in the summer), or just enjoy the river just on the edge of the dunes with the family.

This is also one of the International Dark Sky Parks so make sure you bring your camping gear and spend the night under the stars and enjoy the Milky Way!

One tip we have is be prepared for tons of sand in your bags and clothes 😬

Don’t forget to rent a sand sled or board, bring a sense of adventure, and your favorite On A Limb hat 😉
